Before last week’s snow, I was monitoring these Brick Cap mushrooms that were growing out of an old stump.

I took the first photo on 11/17. The second on 11/29.

In 12 days they should have fully come up, opened their caps, and been well on their way to falling apart. But the cold temps had other plans - stunting their growth almost entirely. Their caps changed color, but otherwise, like us, the chilly weather kept them in bed.
