I am about 1/3rd of the way through this book. I don’t love the style but the substance… coming away so far fully convinced that Sumner should be on the pantheon. (And, tangentially, that America needs a fleshed-out pantheon around Lincoln, in order to be able to fully tell the story of the Civil War and Reconstruction as a Second Revolution.)
