Agreed. It legitimizes big grant players to claim they're for privacy when really they're building privacy on other layers, not Bitcoin. In this regard it's only useful for 'decentralization theater' and marketing i.e. - a psyop.
I hope to be proven wrong but nothing useful has been built on Cashu yet, despite the millions funneled towards it.
