There's a lot more sexual abuse in the world than many men realize and many woman want to accept. Men just often don't know about (or want to know, particularly if it might have involved them). Women often make up reasons for why sexual abuse wasn't rape or was somehow their own responsibility (this, ironically, can feel more empowering as a narrative because it allows us to feel like we have some control and can prevent sexual violence in the future and also allows us to avoid confronting the fact that people we know, maybe even ones we love and desire otherwise, would do this to us). This is why teaching consent and how to assert and negotiate boundaries to kids is such a big deal, and it's also why right wing authoritarians are so very against teaching children to demand respect for their own autonomy....it's much harder to molest children or women who say "no" and will bite you, poke your eye out and report you to someone with the authority to stop you. This is also why women winning the right to refuse sex to a married partner (aka making marital rape illegal) was such a big deal for women's rights. All our rights center around having bodily autonomy, no matter who we are or what our bodies are like. All authoritarian oppression is about taking away our rights to our own bodies and to make our own choices, it's about claiming someone else owns our body and the right to use it and us for their own purposes without our consent.
