Those flat belt pulleys were a death trap. I haven't seen anybody using one of those since I was a kid, when helping my father pour concrete foundations for a cow yard, and we were using one of those to drive a cement mixer. I remember thinking it was the most dangerous thing and being very, very nervous around it.
