I get the build-up around Valentine's, Mother's Day, whatever - but I still much prefer things expressed in little doses, whenever it feels right, rather than big gestures dictated by an external calendar. Tangentially: we don't automatically reply "love you" when "love you" is given. Either of us says it when the feeling hits just right. Sometimes we're on the same wave, sometimes not. Feels more precious and honest that way.
