Fascinating.
I apparently blocked my access via Little Snitch forever ago and forgot about it. It apparetly only tries to connect when you start up the desktop app? If the app stays open a long time it doesn't try to re-connect.
Might have to take a peek at what it's doing with some crafty certificate manipulation...
