One of the things that makes #Linux great is that it's something you can get good at. There's a paradigm and if you learn it, those skills are transferable between distros and decades
It's not like Windows where settings mosey between 4 different versions of the control panel. The tools you add to your toolbox will be useful in the future
If your first step is to create a frankensystem then you're probably just making it worse and you're certainly making it impossible to debug
