What do you mean by “product design”? I might understand that term differently.

AI hasn’t made a ton of progress in the engineering and physical product design industry. AI is still pretty bad at using things like CAD and SolidWorks, and AI isn’t good enough to just prompt it to design a lighter more fuel efficient engine block or better cooling mini-PC case.
