Why do we need or want a billion DAU? Remember the internet before the term social media was common? An IRC chat with 5 people, a forum with maybe a 1000 accounts and 20 daily users. Those places were nicer places to be than X could ever aspire to be. It just strikes me as fiat brain rot to care so much about quantity without thinking about what that does to quality.
