Usually such times are quite polarizing, and deglobalizing. Everyone pulls back to his own group, and blames everyone else. Unfortunately such response is quite natural, but it is contraproductive. The smaller your local group, the less you can progress, and later you can get out of this madness. Unfortunately we cannot do everything alone. If everyone specializes in something, and then we share our knowledge on a value for value basis. By being selfish, helping others, we benefit ourselves. Might be stupid. This is why I think we shall start uplifting eachother.
