While the premise is true, the conclusion is not. The distinction between hurt and harm is the key in my opinion: When we go to the dentist to get a root canal does that hurt? Yes. Was it harmful? No. When we eat the candy that gave you the cavity did that hurt? No. Was it harmful? Yes. Would a good parent be comfortable watching their children harm themselves?
