It's just a hassle to them. People love to go to extremes so like Daniel implies, that gets morphed into "If you're trying to hide something you're certainly doing something illegal." Most people can only think one step ahead. They don't consider that their data can be turned against them to look like they're guilty of something they didn't do. Nevermind all the security breaches and identity theft and all that mess happening all around us. Yes it's mindboggling that people can be so negatively affected by something yet actively reject the solution to their problems. Look, people are stupid, to their own detriment.
