From now on, new entrant would be required to pay a deposit of up to $10,000 for a tourist or business visa.
The United States had already required Malians to pay $5,000 or $10,000 for the same kind of visa.
Mali says it is applying the same rule in return.
It is held as security and returned if the visitor leaves on time.
Malians will determine who will be welcomed to visit their territory, and the circumstances under which they would be permitted to do so.
