According to chatgpt It’s absolutely possible to build a Nostr client with a Facebook-style friend request system. Instead of everyone being able to reply to everything, you could have: 🤝 Send Friend Request ✅ Accept / Decline 👥 Friends-only replies 🌎 Optional public posts 🚫 Non-friends can’t enter your conversations unless you allow it Nostr can still handle identity, notes, relays, and signatures underneath. The client can add the social permission layer on top. Following someone wouldn’t automatically make you friends either. Both people would have to agree. I think a lot of people would prefer this over the completely open model where anyone can jump into your replies, react etc I might have to build this.
