You can even see this dumbing effect within a single generation. I remember my father, a civil engineer, saying at the age of 50 that the new engineers coming straight out of university were all stupid and couldn&#39;t even perform basic arithmetic. He could calculate the square root of any large decimal number in seconds with pencil and paper. And I can&#39;t do that (anymore).&#xA;&#xA;Well, at least there’s something good about it. We old folks are the smartest generation and won’t be surpassed by any subsequent generation for a while.
