The people of Minneapolis, as far as I can tell, overwhelmingly do not want ICE running around their community and doing this enforcement (which is not confined to just those committing crimes) in this way. The states are supposed to be separate republics, essentially their own countries with responsibility for their own law enforcement. Why should a New Yorker's preferences be imposed on Minnesotans? Also, to say that it's only those criminals acting badly overlooks so much. Unaccountable cops shooting and macing people in the streets, breaking into Americans' homes without warrants, and throwing grenades into cars with kids inside is also bad behavior. I don't think that should be very controversial, either.
