Not to the state, not to God. A child is the responsibility of those who brought him into existence. His parents. That is, until he is capable of taking that responsibility on himself. The misconception that equates the state to s parent is based on the misconception that the the group is primary an the individual is a product of the group. That misconception gives rise to the idea that the state is the parent of the person. Reality and logic dictates that the group is the product of the human mind. The individual is the primary. He create the group. Therefore seeing the state as a parent is contradiction. With a proper philosophy there is no need for a God to establish a society based on liberty. Without a proper philosophy, introducing God will not save you from tyranny.
