It's a book I recommend, even if the guy's a bit of a 60's liberal. But this chapter ("Proud Legions") in particular details some of the changes made to the military post-WW2 that began the process of faggifying it. He doesn't call it that, of course, but you can see some of the starts of the breakdown in discipline, hierarchy, tradition, etc.
