Basically I think the idea of millions of Pis all over the world was just a dream from the start. Most people really don't want to learn about money and what they need to do to ensure its fairness. Maybe they'll run a node if its on general purpose hardware they use for other things too. And I dont think what you say is necessarily true, if high powered hardware is being used by a larger percentage of the population, than not running on older less powerful hardware doesn't indicate centralization. Its all about hitting the Goldilocks area. and ain't nobody been here before or knows where that sweet spot is.
