Eg I can come to know the earth is round as a truth (even if my vision is insufficient at any one time or place to see that roundness) by (carefully) stitching together different pieces of knowledge.  But if I want to be sure I really know this (not just take it on faith) I would need to trace back how I know each stitch is real - which would have to lead me to sense knowledge at the end of each thread if I was seeking truth not mere faith."}
