Later that night the President announced that the martial law has been lifted.\n\nThe leader of the President's own political party criticized the move, calling his declaration “wrong.”\n\nSeveral senior aides to the President, including his chief of staff, collectively tendered their resignation.\n\nMembers of South Korea’s opposition, which controls the National Assembly, have submitted a motion to impeach the President.\n\nThe secretary general of the National Assembly condemn the illegal, unconstitutional actions of the military and said he would hold the military accountable for its role in imposing martial law."}
