I worked at an international court where we regularly received terrorist threats and once had a grenade delivered to our office in  a box.  It was a little cutie, probably not even live, but super cute.\n\nAfter all that, and a few years since, I have almost completely repudiated for myself the concept of international law as such.  It’s fake, and often gay.\n\nReal sovereigns can contract, but where as rule of law for individual citizens has a palpable reality to it on the nation level, there is no such thing as international rule of law beyond that which the mighty deigns to enforce.
