It's true that he was a gatekeeper against all of our points. It's true he started saying some testing-the-reservation-line bits only before the very end.
I don't discount the very real possibility (not that this is what you are saying, only what I've read from others) that Kirk only started to "speak against" (ask questions aloud about) Israel in the last few months as a goy servant still, a faithful guardrail losing control but trying to not let the conversation run too far away. Or it may be that he actually thought he could ask questions and had only a dim spark of late realization/acceptance that it's moral to question them, in the position he was in. Neither of these possibilities nor others is necessary for nor determines the momentum I'm trying to point out.

I just see him being raised as a martyr by the conservative(TM) Right, the settling in the mind of that mass that *something* needs to be done by "our leaders" to "handle this faction, the Left, that we can now see we can't have discourse with."
That mass that last week cared more about "muh Constitution," " *law* and order," today cares more about order--and they just want "things to be handled."

Well, *I* first had to follow a program to build up *all* of my mineral levels (after a blood test, found I needed it), so I'm not sure the exact cut-off of where that ends and where the "these steps are to make you tolerate lactose again" begin. I'll ask when I see her next.

Abraham's seed according to the *unconditional* covenant God gave are Israelites. He invites of those Israelites present at Mt Sinai to enter into a *conditional* covenant as His Bride.

That Bride is adulterous--not only entering into covenants with other husbands, but even bearing children by their people--bastards who would not be under the *conditional* covenant nor the *unconditonal* covenant.

The adulterous Bride splits into two kingdoms: a Northern (Ephraim) and a Southern (Judah)--each named after the larger/ruling tribe.

God declares through prophets in both kingdoms that

The Israelites are overthrown by foreigners.
The kingdoms completely fall.
Most Israelites are scattered far abroad, for centuries. Some had never even received the law. They become nations.
A remnant that was in Babylon returns to the land, to rebuild.
They once again become adulterous.
They once again invite others into the old covenant who cannot be under the covenant. They have bastards by some of them. They are betrayed by these (especially the Edomites, as contemporary historians note), and these are rewarded with positions of governmental and religious rulership (Herod's line and Sanhedrin positions) by the conquering power (Roman) they'd aided. (We call this people "jews" today as they claim the name and we let them.)

God walks in the flesh.
He tells bastards that they are not His sheep and *therefore* do not hear Him--NOT that they are not His sheep because they don't listen; NOT that they may become His sheep. No, God is there for His lost sheep, the lost sheep of the House of Israel, and He is the good shepherd who knows His sheep, and His sheep know Him. God is crucified, at the behest of the bastards.
This death of the Husband releases the Bride (every Israelite, whether in Judea or abroad, whether faithful or adulterous, aware of forgetful) from the *conditional* old covenant, fulfilled/ended by the death of either party--the Husband, rather than all of the Bride.

God will uphold the *unconditional* covenant He gave to Abraham and his seed that had become many nations.

An earnest of the Spirit is given at pentecost, a partial restoration.
The seed is once more "My People" and "With Mercy."

Israelites that had been descendants of those present at Mt. Sinai and thus under the law--any of these that had become broken away by the divorce--are grafted back (natural branches broken from the cultivated olive tree). Israelites that had never been under the law (not all went to Sinai, so wild olive trees) are under this new covenant (grafted to the tree), as the scope is according to the *unconditional* covenant of God given to Abraham and his seed. Paul spends his ministry conveying this to the seed scattered abroad.

The new covenent will be consummated at the end of the age, at the Wedding Feast of the Lamb, when the Bride and the Husband are reconciled in an everlasting covenant.
The fullness of the Spirit will be given--the restoration, the resurrection of His Bride, whether faithful or not. All of the House of Israel will be saved. (Israelite =/= jew.)
He will then separate nations, by His sheep and the goat nations, and judge by how even the least of the sheep were treated. He will cast the goats away to be no more. All the sheep are saved by grace, yet the sheep will be rewarded each according to their work.

Though first upon His return to separate the nations, He will find His Bride in the wilderness (He had led her to rest in) as the Whore of Babylon, once more unfaithful, giving herself to many nations. He, the only faithful, the only one good, will save her despite herself, kill the rest, and be known by her by this.

The Revelation received is an uncovering of the history until that time, so that we may know that He is true and have encouragement and proof for our faith. (What is the point of the book of Revelation, if not this?)

A long time ago, I read a handful of Carl Jung's books on these (S vs N, T vs N), what it means when any of these functions are oriented in what he referred to as I or E. The I or E in this Myers-Briggs naming system (awkwardly but finely imposed on Jung's ideas) is the orientarion of the T or J (the reasoning function), and it's not whether you're "outgoing" or "like being alone more." Humans do seem to be huWhite (huge majority, almost total) or Indian (very small portion) in the galactic empire. Don't recall any Asians. One brief character might have been a Kang or Indian (dark skinned).
Constant references to White culture (Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Napoleon, Shakespeare, the Norse, our myths and battles). The religious / scholastic language is "Classical English" (our English).

Funny thing though: The first book had a few gays in it, and all but one of these ended up being evil traitors in the first book. The one that didn't was a dead-weight coward, and he ended up being a worse traitor in the second book.

Alright, I finished it.

As Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere books begin in fantasy and grow into science fantasy, I would say the Sun Eater series begins in sci-fi and will grow further into science fantasy--from developments in this second installment.

Is this second book a better read than the first book?
By far, yes.

Is it a good read?
Short answer is "No" because it feels incomplete due to the lack of clear arc. Of course there is an overarching rise in this multi-book series, but that rise comes across as the *only* rise. Of course, the overarching rise is just getting started in what is only a second installment. Meanwhile, the "current" events (this book) are told too passively. They feel too overcolored by constant commentary from future knowledge (of the protagonist telling us this tale of his past), less immediate, less dire. These pauses to give melodramatic mini-monologues from this self-contemplative protagonist drags out the book.

Could this be a good series?

That means being born of the flesh is not enough; one needs also to be born of the promise, the faith, which is the unconditional covenant given to Abraham (that his seed would become many nations). This is why Christ tells the Pharisees (who had, according to Ezra, Nehemiah, Malachi and more--even secular historians of the time in agreement--become largely occupied by more and more non-Israelites, particularly Edomites, meaning of Esau who took Hittites as wives)--why Christ tells the Pharisees, when they proclaim they're "not born of fornication" but are of Abraham, that being of Abraham was not enough. Esau is of Abraham. The promise followed Jacob, by God, and such is the faith. (This is the point of Romans 9.)
What is flesh is flesh; what is Spirit is Spirit. It's a necessity of both.

Just as Christ rejected the Edomites though they were of Abraham (those of the flesh but not the Spirit), Christ will also reject those who are of Adam ("what is the flesh is flesh") if they are not of the Spirit ("what is the Spirit is Spirit")--meaning those who are not, therefore, "born of above."

And that's if they're mixed ("of Adam", "of the flesh")-- let alone if they're not even "of the flesh" at all.
A non cannot be of the Spirit if they're not of the flesh, as God gave His Spirit to Adam.

They're not giants, as some say, either. They are "the fallen," as their name translates.
They are the offspring of the "sons of God" who took wives of the "daughters of men."
They are also described physically, later in Joshua and Numbers, as they are encountered. The descriptions are not of normal men.

And, yes, I agree wholeheartedly there are plenty of times (I would even say most of the time) when "sons of God" refers to Israelites--those times being *once there are Israelites.*

It's not a random interjection in Genesis. It's the beginning to the tale of Noah--the reason for the flood. This is why God deems it appropriate to flood the land in 120 years.

Take a breath and think: What does "perfect in his generations" mean?--and right after an introduction that talks about the sons of God taking wives of the daughters of Adam.
This is not to say Noah was the only uncorrupted descendant of Adam. Of any that were "perfect in [their] generations," only Noah would be in the line of first born (following the order of first born son outliving their father's passing, Noah being the eighth from Adam), which is how he's "the eighth preacher of righteousness" as 2 Peter declares. (It is worth looking at how wildly our different versions "translate" that verse. They add whole terms, trying to piece together how Noah is "eighth." It matters because of *how* Christ's salvation works.

It is Christ who is now the preacher of righteousness, the mediator, after that same consideration of first born priests/mediators (or as Paul states it in Hebrews, "after the order of Melchizedek," a transliteration of the Hebrew for "righteous king"). It is Christ, being God, that is the true vine, by the Spirit, rather than Adam. Even Adam is--by the Spirit given to him by God (who is Christ)--a son. And so, being the descendants then of our Father, we are the branches--and only through Christ, who is called the way and the life *because of this.*

We are not found as cursed descendants of a forefather (Adam), who would be our mediator, a cursed and sinful one, who died and would be replaced by the firstborn surviving him. Nor are we found with any of that line of firstborn as our mediator, who would also be found corrupt and also pass to death. Instead the forefather of even Adam (as He gave to Adam His Spirit) has come as a son of man. God Himself is our Father, by this, the true vine. And the justification of the restoration/resurrection (however you want to translate it) will be by this consideration. He is the vine; those descended from Him are the branches.

They are quoted by those wanting to share the Gospel--but who are expanding the Gospel beyond its scope (which is described in those same passages that are used as a counterargument--specifically Romans 9 and Galatians 3), wanting to counter the concept that Christ saved everyone He intended to--and that that was not everyone.

Christ has saved all of Israel (meaning the Israelites, of which most Christians have a hard time distinguishing from todays jews--as much as ourguys, unfortunately, have a hard time distinguishing the term 'Israelites' from 'Judeans' of the NT and OT, a distinguishment found in scripture).
He died for the descendants of Adam and no one else. Non-Whites are not from Adam. Handing them the Gospel is like handing a love letter written to you and passing it on to them. It will say "you", but it's not about/for/to them.

Usually, quotes from Romans 9 and/or Galatians 3 are thrown as the counterargument (respectively, "not all descended from Israel are of Israel" and "no Jew or Greek, male or female," etc.)--and then, *if* a discussion about what those passages say can be had (which is not often, due to the temperament of the person quoting), it usually ends with their quoting of Revelation 7 ("out of every nation and tribe and peoples and tongue") as a "finisher," not wanting to question the purpose of Dan missing from the list in that same chapter.

I've heard both sides--the supporting arguments and the dissenting of those writing in multiple threads and across forks of threads--regarding the asking of Mary to pray for us.

Here's why it's strange:

Where is even an approximating equal emphasis on Joseph? He was the male of the chosen family, the man to oversee the newborn Christ.
