She never married and I didn&#39;t meet her until she was in her 70s. She always served us sherry and biscuits (UK) when we visited even though I was about 14. She showed us many photos of her time in NYC, such as riding a horse in Central Park, or frequently with a particular friend. She definitely had a butch vibe in the photos but of course it didn&#39;t click with me until years later that her friend was probably more than that. We all loved her as she was such fun, totally hilarious with a dgaf attitude.
