Today I met a corn snake. His name is Shucks. He lives at our local nature center, in a glass habitat. I didn’t realise until today that they take him for regular excursions outside. He has a favorite cactus that he likes to visit. He is warm and silky-smooth to the touch. Shucks is a good snake :-) #snakes #reptiles

This arsehole of a cat* is wasting away due to thyroid disease. He’s been on medication for the last 3.5 years and this week took a turn for the worse. Took him to the vet today and honestly I didn’t expect to come home with him. They gave him a steroid injection which is supposed to stimulate his appetite- he hasn’t eaten in several days - although now all he wants is cat treats. (1/2)

It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions kind of day; I was blubbering in the vet thinking we were going to lose him. And he probably only has a month or so yet, but that’s a month in the sun; another month we can spend together. This evening there will be more cat treats. And a beer for my frazzled nerves.

I wasn’t planning to buy a telescope last week, but when this popped up on FB Marketplace for $15, I couldn’t ignore it! One new eyepiece and a few screws later, total investment $33.22 for what turns out to be a very sharp scope. You can see Saturn has rings, and the stripe across Jupiter, and its attendant moons. Our Moon looks glorious. It came minus the original tripod, so I designed and printed an adaptor for my camera tripod. (1/2)
