I have been thinking along these lines. I spent most of my school years at a homeschool co-op (which my mother helped run for most of that time, even) and while it certainly wasn’t perfect it was a damn sight better for me (and I think a lot of my neurodivergent peers) than public school at the time would have been. You know how it feels when you walk through a spiderweb and you catch it right in the face? You get the immediate, visceral disgust reaction and try to GET IT OFF as quick as possible.

But like, nobody can really see it. You can’t see it well, so you kind of flail around trying to catch enough of it to get it off of you, and everyone just sees you flailing around is like “what’s up with them??” cause they can’t see it either.

And then even after you get off (which is such a relief!!) it still sometimes feels like there’s some caught in your hair (even if there isn’t) or something crawling on you (even if there isn’t), which makes you mess around even more trying to get rid of it.

Anyway, gender dysphoria is like having a spiderweb on your face your entire life and transition is flailing around trying to get it off.

Like as long as the transmitting station properly identifies and does not obfuscate the purpose of the message, and arguably publicly documents the message, I don’t see anything in Part 97 prohibiting it. Nothing really addresses the possibility of an unauthorized takeover of an automatically or remotely controlled station; arguably 97.219(c) and (d) indicate that responsibility for transmissions would remain with the control operator of the station regardless.

Also being on a small instance run by and for trans folks is the best experience I’ve had with social media, period. We don’t federate with what seems to be a substantial portion of “fedi” and I’ve never missed it; I will not be joining bluesky because even with good blocking tools (which fedi badly needs, tbc) I feel much more secure here than in one big shared space where I need to block thousands of people (even if doing so is easy). That depends on the work of my awesome instance admin (thanks Mz. April Daniels (npub1qdd…2qrs)!) for sure and that’s not scalable, but like, there IS
