Over the last 10 years, there has been a significant uptick in severe weather events. In 2023 there was over 2000mm(!!) of rain. Over twice the usual amount.

Cultural redress is just a starting point. A cooperative strategy is essential, but the iwi need to be in the driving seat.

Being in driving seat doesn't mean being in control, it means our way of thinking can be embedded into the process.

e.g. Having a playground at Battle Hill is a great idea, but a missed opportunity to have a meaningful place for generating discussion about what this space means for our people.

So, after a full day yesterday (0900-1730) of 150-200 odd people in the lecture theatre, this was the reading at the end, as the last speaker was receiving their koha.

For those not as familiar with the readings, it was 518 outside just now, so this is basically "fresh air". My (big, government) office NEVER falls below 850, and meeting rooms often climb to over 2000 inside 20 mins.

A packed peak time commuter train on recirculated air is about 1600.

So this is AMAZING.

you need these rules to be unbreakable, so they can "rebel" against them. But they should have no "real world costs" for doing so. Another we used was about having to tell us 2 new things they learned at school each day.

It allows the child to test parent boundaries, without it being dangerous to anyone...

Young teenagers are in an odd space. The world expects them to be kids, and make adult decisions, simultaneously. It's exceedingly confusing for them trying to find their place. They need a place to come for guaranteed support above all.

Now for the contentious bit... They're going to be looking to find/test the boundaries. Give them some really hard-line (but safe) rules to rebel against, we used "no coffee".

So, I have a fairly cheap ($16) airbrush from AliExpress, gravity fed. I've swapped that out for the one that came with the compressor MrsT bought me as a kit, because that one was Venturi driven (paint underneath, pulled up by the following air).

The expensive bit is the compressor (as you say, canned air is a bit shit). I would highly recommend a moisture trap (again, I got one for about $4 from AE) - and an upgrade would be a reservoir, but not needed for beginner levels.

I think the problem I struggle with on Mastodon is the Federated nature of it (hear me out).

I just thought to myself "I need to practice my Reo Māori more. I wonder if there's a hashtag I can follow for that?" so I searched, but my server only returns tags it's seen across posts/servers I already follow, right?

So how do I (on a single user instance) reach areas I don't know about, if I can't find search results for them?

So, anyone know any servers/accounts for Reo Māori speakers?

ironically, I know of at least one Ministry that has just done exactly that. Ended leases on CBD spaces and Switched to "Flexi working" space, expecting no more than 60% occupancy (ie they now only actually have capacity for 60% of their staff)- in order to help meet their cost reduction targets.
