So before we get to specific use cases for WebDAV & CO in combination with Hubzilla and streams here one more post with some general information:

[h1]WebDAV[/h1]

(Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning) is a set of extensions to HTTP allowing the Web to be viewed as a writable, collaborative medium and [mark]not just a read-only medium[/mark]. Even so WebDAV started as the overall expression for this protocols [mark]the word WebDAV it today manly used in combination with files in a cloud[/mark] and their exchange with Clients. With WebDav you can do:

- Collaborative document editing
- File synchronization across devices
- Content management for websites[/mark]

[h1]CalDAV[/h1]

(Calendar Distributed Authoring and Versioning) extends the WebDAV specification [mark]to access and manage calendar data along with the ability to schedule meetings[/mark] with users on the same or on remote servers. There are many implementations of CalDAV- so also e.g. Apple Calendar (formerly iCal) uses CalDAV and you also can show a CalDAV Calendar in a Google Calendar #^[url=https://developers.google.com/calendar/caldav/v2/guide]https://developers.google.com/calendar/caldav/v2/guide[/url] - ( but if you have your CalDAV Calendar you do not need a Google Calendar i would say :-) )

[h1]CardDAV[/h1]

(vCard Distributed Authoring and Versioning) extends the WebDAV specification to allow users to [mark]access and share contacts and address books[/mark]. It became known as a synchronization protocol in iOS 7, among other things, and is now also supported by Gmail and Thunderbird.

All this has a [mark]Server and a Client side[/mark] - for which different implementations are needed. So there are implementations that just install as a Client and need to be connected to a Server. [mark]The server is a central controller and the client is usually a utility that runs on endpoints.[/mark]

Hubzilla and streams have the [mark]Sabre[/mark] WebDAV, CalDAV and CardDAV server implemented #^[url=https://sabre.io]https://sabre.io[/url]. and can that way serve files, calendars and adressbooks to clients.

The integrated cloud app of Hubzilla and streams connects to WebDAV clients.

Hubzilla provides also an app for managing CalDAV calendars and serves them to CalDAV clients. The HZ CardDAV app can manage address books and serves them to CardDAV clients. In Streams this two Apps are not active right now.

So basically [mark]you can try to connect all the different clients you finde in the lists above with your Hubzilla/streams account[/mark] and use the Hubzilla/streams server you are on as server for your clients you have installed on all your different end devices.

Can you see that is will give you a lot of options?

I will start here a series of posts where i will give some examples of this extended use.

If you follow this posts it will become clear to you that this functionalities are the door to a world of interactions no other Fediverse app does offer.

now this is a different thing to solve... if you have all on one place you sure could spread to other platforms from there... but make sure reactions go back to the main place...

e.g. if you have a Band Website with Social Media functionality you still could boost your posts to other fedi platforms but all the commends would go to your original post to your Band Website

this does not work on platform which are closes up and don´t let you get thinks out - yes - but the future are federated platforms which are open :-)

Hubzilla WIKIS and Bootstrap

Hubzilla is a web publishing CMS with many different interacting tools with which we can publish all different kind of content for the Internet.
It is not trivial to get the overview and even someone who has been using Hubzilla for years keeps discovering new options.

The latest thing I have understood is that the Hubzilla WIKIS can also display Bootstrap HTML code #^[url=https://getbootstrap.com/]https://getbootstrap.com/[/url] nicely. This makes it possible to create attractively designed webpages with even animated effects.

For a demo copy the following code into a HZ Wiki page:

and marvel at the functioning dropdown navigation menu.

The HZ Wiki app does not have a good editor. The code for the pages themselves is therefore easier to create in an external WYSIWYG editor - there are several of these, including some that work with Boostrap 5.
In addition to some commercial online platforms or apps such as “Bootstrap Studio”, I found this online editor called "ProductDiv":

The finished code is then copied into an HZ Wiki page. Smaller adjustments and text changes can easily be made in the editing module of the HZ Wiki.

Try it out, it's really easy.

[b]However, one important function is missing from HZ Wikis: a cross-page search function.[/b] My fervent wish for the HZ DEVs would be to implement this. That would be great, then you could do something similar with HZ Wikis, which today often requires mdbock or readthedocs as an external application.
