I think I'm putting my #ZXSpectrum raycaster to bed now that I have movement. I'm happy that it works (my first attempt at machine language) 😅. Some weird graphical glitches around certain intersections of ray path and map grid (jagged wall edges), but considering the huge approximations I made, it's not bad.

I moved it above the first 16k of memory that apparently makes it run faster and (combined with disabling interrupts) definitely does improve the refresh rate. #RetroComputing

If you've never watched the live action #StreetFighter movie from 1994, you should watch this movie.
It's cheesy, nonsensical and jams a huge ensemble cast into a short movie including JCVD at his "peak" plus Kylie Minogue as Cammy. Production troubled, partially due to Raul Julia (Bison) recovering from cancer treatment and who would sadly pass away before release. Despite this, RJ gives an incredible over the top characaturish performance as Bison. It's terrible in the best possible way.

Watching the X-Files last night, I couldn't help again thinking that the world needs a really good X-Files game. Resist or Serve (PS2) starts off promising, but lost me towards the end (not least because of an almost impossible final boss).

Despite some of my typically bad soldering skills, this little mono amplifier does what I want it to. #ZXSpectrum audio loading needs a higher voltage output than modern audio jacks provide so I wired this up to a usb power supply and added a couple of mono jacks which means I can load from a little digital recorder. In the #N64 version of the game, it's also the location of one of the EX files titled Progress Report, written by William Birkin and discussing development of the Hunter. This is right next to the body of a dead Hunter which is the only place in Resident Evil 2 that you can find this classic RE enemy (albeit not exactly a threat here) 🧵

For your trouble you find a sub machine gun, which is actually kind if pointless this close to the end of the game! Especially considering the trouble it takes to find it.

BUT, if your character already picked up the machine gun then you only find some ammo for it. This is the only way (in the main game) where you can find this ammo item 🧵

This time the lighting does match, although the details around the tube are slightly wrong with the metal cylinder being on the opposite side, but the control panel being in the correct location. Even setting aside this, I think it's supposed to be the same location, suggesting that the umbrella soldier accidentally released a tyrant... 🧵

Further into the room you find the body of one of the umbrella soldiers next to another smashed experiment tube. As the umbrella soldiers only came into the lab to recover the G virus from Birkin, I guess the suggestion is that this soldier was trying to find him and wound up getting killed by whatever broke out of the tube. 🧵

So, the only way to get here is to have your character register their fingerprint in the B5F computer room during the A scenario (1st playthrough) and then go and use it at the door. During the B scenario, the other character can do the same to enter the room as the door requires 2 fingerprints. This makes it one of the last new locations in the game. 🧵
