To save yourself a lot of time and effort, might I recommend this fantastic [device](https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/BG9480_50/9000-series-with-uv-sanitizing-cube ) I have? Usually I just use a razor because I want to be ultrasmooth but this comes very very close to 'fresh razor' results, with way less fuss. It's an easy way to keep up on your de-fuzzing that works so well, you can totally de-fuzz in about 10 minutes, head to toe. I love it.

While RCS is nice and everything, I kinda hate that Google pretty much runs the show.

They made it so that their Messages app is the only one that supports it, because ALL their other chat apps sucked and didn't catch on (Google Chat, anyone?) so now they're like "Oh hey, here's RCS. But only on our app. lol" so now, texting people without it really sucks because you can't send full-res images like you can on chat apps like Telegram or Discord. Signal's file size limit is 100MB I believe (which sucks, but it's better than Discord's 50MB if you don't have Nitro)

Not that I'm sending large files constantly... it's just nice to be able to send full-res photos I take with my Sony Alpha camera and other larger files, occasionally. 😅

Of course, I prefer to use encrypted chat apps, but I've found that most folks won't even TRY apps that aren't Telegram or Discord, unless something extreme happens to cause an exodus, but then again... stuff like that happened on Twitter multiple times, and again with 'X' and folks STILL stayed on there.

Thankfully, I don't have to worry about sending photos and files to the very few people I know that use RCS (one friend who won't get any messengers) or basic SMS/MMS (my dad, bc he has a flip phone) bc I have no reason to send them any, and privacy isn't a concern bc we never message about anything sensitive, so I guess I shouldn't let my trepidation bother me so much.

I do hope that Google does finally release RCS so that other developers and mobile network operators can utilize its capabilities in the future, but to be honest, I'm not going to hold my breath. 😜

Mostly because we have a reverse DNS ad-annihilator that filters our whole network at home, and then an app on all our devices that does the same while we're out, and most of these services don't like that you block their ads, so the apps usually don't load properly or give the infinite spinny circle of death when we try to use them. xD

Okay, so... In light of all this government surveillance and hacking going on, I'm in search of a true proper fully anonymous, secure encrypted messenger. I tried to like Signal, but with the US Gov using it and it being infiltrated, I don't think I trust it, anymore.

*Apologies. I mis-typed, there. I was in a hurry and my lovely AuDHD brain was having a moment. What I meant to say was, I ***like*** Signal, but I have a mild concern that I need to check into more, as it bothered me when I read it.*

(Don't worry. I'm keeping Telegram for all the folks who won't use anything else because they're Stockholm'd babies afraid of new experiences or refuse to use other apps because they're stubborn fussy brats. Just don't expect me to use it much because it's unsafe, AI-infested, and loaded with censorship bots.)

I also want to send in-line images and videos, and also other files to my friends, without an absolutely lame af size limit like 100MB or less. (Ideally, there should be no limit, or a very large limit like say, 2GB.)

The messenger can be either P2P or distributed/decentralized.

Element/Matrix looks okay but it's designed for business, enterprise, corporate, IT, and white collar office nerds who use things like Slack, Teams, Zoom, etc and need their whole communication system integrated into a single app.

Wire seems to be going this route as well.

Tox is a newer one, and seems to have the right idea about personal chat apps, but their own website states that it is unstable and being heavily developed so there will be lots of bugs and other issues.

Session looks like a great contender, but it's pathetic file size limit of 10MB is abysmal and completely unacceptable.

I'm running out of options, here.

If anyone has any suggestions, please share.

I'm having a little bit of difficulty with customizing the text colors in Cosmic Terminal, too. It's not very intuitive at all and there's no clear directions on how to do it. I'm pretty irritated.

I may ditch this in favor of another distro, tbh.

I have both Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro MK II and the DT 1770 Pro MK II, and I have to say, I prefer the open-back 1990's wider soundstage. Because of that, they're more balanced than the closed-back 1770's. However, both have phenomenal fidelity, especially when paired with a good headphone amp (even though one isn't required).

Not to mention, they're suuuuuuper comfy, and are built extremely well, and a re largely user-serviceable so you can't go wrong.

My sleep is completely hecked to heck, too. It's awful! I can't even sleep a consistent 7-8 hours. Mine is all split up between 4 hour naps or 6 hour sleep plus a 2 hour nap or some other annoying split, so it feels like im only sleeping 4.5 hours every 24.

This is what happens when I don't have a proper life schedule going on, while being AuDHD.

It's especially bad in winter, after daylight robbery hours hit, which causes my brain to go into "heck. its winter. we hate winter. meh." mode and then I go into isolation mode because of that, and I'm not exercising daily like I usually do because I'm now bleh and don't wanna do anything, including eating properly, so beteen all of that, plus the hecky sleep, I'm just a mess until the nice weather comes back.

It's an awful cycle.

I'll never understand people who "have a guy" for everything, especially simple things like installing software on a device, or setting up a TV.

There are videos online for everything and we have direct access to search engines in our pockets. You don't need to call 'your guy' to come over and click a few buttons for you.

I was just informed my brother is having 'his guy' come over to install software on his new laptop. My brother is NOT that inept. He grew up with computers like I did, and he's 30, not 60. Boomers 'have a guy'.

I started to twitch, made an excuse, and ended the call before I had an autistic meltdown.

Heck. Glad I haven't given Framework any of my money. I almost bought their new laptop, and was considering their mini pc.

However, in light of these revelations, I am henceforth writing them off until they make considerable alterations to their 'big tent policy'.

I can not, and will not support any entity whose ideology does not align with my own.

The open source community is made up of countless diverse individuals and entities, many of which are LGBTQ+ or friends and family of LGBTQ+ individuals, and they need to acknowledge and respect them.

By taking this approach and action, they are casting a shadow on them all. Their response pretty much said "That's nice, we're just gonna keep doing what we're doing. we really don't care about your concerns or feelings because you're in the minority and we're all bout the big picture."

Usually I try not to get into anything political cos I just wanna hang out an be little, but, Linux and FOSS are one of my passions and I just had to reply.

Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention. You saved me from a very egregious purchase. :dragon_love:

I don't think Nova is dead for good, just yet. There are a lot of efforts going on rn to keep it alive, so I'm still using it on all my devices. I tried Smart Launcher, Octopi, Lawnchair, and a few others, and while they were pretty good, nothing comes close to Nova. Nothing. I still use Windows for gaming but I have like 3 different distros I'm running rn; Zorin OS, Garuda, and Pop_OS on three different systems and I can't decide on which one I like more. :dragon_roll:

I've even started replacing software on Windows with FOSS equivalents because I'm just so sick of the crazy prices they're charging and also subscription-all-the-things-ever.

As much as I like Clip Studio Paint for my art, Krita has become a great alternative, and it's completely free, so I started using it, instead.

However, even with the new version of GIMP, I still find it to be clunky and awkward, so I bought Affinity Photo and ON1 to develop and process my RAW photos.

I'm working on finding a decent FOSS DAW for my music projects. I already replaced my audio editors with Tenacity (An Audacity fork, because the devs behind Audacity have now incorporated tracking and spying stuff in the app.)

Anyway, in the last year alone, I've come a long way! It's nice to be back on Linux! My systems all love it because it's super fast, efficient, and never tells you "no" or "you can't do that. i know best because im the OS, and you're dumb." and you can fix everything in 5 minutes or less with a few console commands!
