Last night, I learned, that if you put a candy cane in a hot glue gun, it will melt and you can use it like hot glue.

Which is helpful when making a gingerbread house.

Just putting that information out there.

So, yea.

Have a great one.

EDIT: As others have rightly pointed out, glue guns are not designed for food prep. This is outside of the norm for this device. So, YMMV and there may be issues with trace metals or plastics from the glue gun itself getting into your liquid candy cane. But it DOES actually work and it does make, crafting a decorative gingerbread house a LOT faster.

So, Tune Tuesday's theme is "Tearjerker" today. Apparently, they want all of us crying today.

Story time - In 2008, Darius Rucker's first country album dropped. One of the songs on it was "It Won't Be Like This For Long." The song is about the passing of time and begins with the singer holding their little baby in hand.

In 2009, my first kid was born. I also got really into this album around that same time. Each time I heard this song, it absolutely made me cry. To this day it still brings me memories of that year / the passage of time even with my oldest now being a snarky, 15 year old.

When I saw Tune Tuesday's theme of "You Can't Touch This" about cover, I thought it meant that we were talking purely of bad covers! But, for me, bad covers are entirely forgettable so I couldn't think of anything.

But, it's not. It's about a cover that may be good, bad, whatever, but the original still hits and is still better.

Okay, so I got back from the doctor. They did a more detailed CT / X-Ray thing and...well, they found nothing in my jaw. No issues, no lesions. Nothing. They compared it to the previous X-Rays and everything. Basically - clean bill of health. I'm all good. I'm feeling a bit relieved.

I learned that today is World Mental Heath Day.

So, let me say a few things.

First, I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I likely had it my whole life, but ignored anxiety and the underlying feelings of anxiousness that I had when it made no sense. I called it nervous stomach where I'd just feel nervous for seemingly no reason. In 2020, the world plus my anxiety came to a head.

My wife encouraged me to get help. And I did. That plus meds have been helping, but it's a continuous problem. It doesn't just go away and it's not me actively deciding to be nervous.

All that said to offer these reminders: Your feelings are valid.

You matter.

It's okay to ask for help.

In college there was a Blockbuster nearby, but the only time I went was when it was going out of business and selling all their stock. A friend picked up some TV show DVDs on the cheap.

Done all except for renting from Blockbuster. There wasn't a Blockbuster near me, so I rented VHS's from Mr. Movie (upstate NYS chain) and / or Hollywood Video, when that showed up on the scene.

I also didn't use a typewriter until I was an adult, honestly. We didn't have anything like that at home.

Yea, I can only imagine. I switched jobs previously every 5 years or so. First job I had for a year, next one for 5.5 yrs, next for 4.5 years. In each case (except the first one which I left cause I moved), there was no growth, no real raises, and my work didn't feel appreciated - so switching jobs was how I got a raise.

My current one will be 6 years in October. It's been a much better job for me / my family.

Ugh, that sucks. It's been almost 6 years since I got this job. Job searching sucked then, especially if you wanted to remain where you were already living and not wanting to move. It took me half a year to find jobs that got back to me after an interview, one of which was luckily the one I have now, which has been great for me / my family.
