At least one of the dryads is the man&#39;s wife.<br/><br/>Both the cover and story leave something to be desired. The ladies should be scarred and misfigured as a consequence of being sawed into planks, which would make a pretty metal cover. The story was interesting on the level of, say, Pickman&#39;s Model, but not as well written. <br/><br/>August Derleth wrote a maudlin, mediocre pseudo christian defense of the status quo.
