In case you missed the news, today I have resigned from my current position, as I have another job lined up! <br/> <br/>**Some final stats about this year job search** <br/>- I have sent 40 applications in ~14 days, most found on LinkedIn and NoFluffJob (both have very effective search, can recommand) <br/>- Out of all the application, 12 sent me a rejection; so exactly 30% negative response rate <br/>- I got 1 (one) interview, went through the 3 rounds and got the offer at the end <br/>- Sadly I didn&#39;t get hired by someone who found me on Mastodon, but that was worth a try haha <br/> <br/>For comparison, 2 years ago I sent around 26 applications only, got maybe 8 responses with 2 positive for an interview; but I was targetting Junior roles in France back then so a different game. <br/> <br/>I&#39;m saying this publicly so that you know: <br/>- yes yes people still get hired in this economy 🙂‍↕️ <br/>- it&#39;s a number game so don&#39;t get caught up on every single application, keep the ball rolling <br/>- if there is a place to put a cover letter or a message to the recruiter do so! Instead, being active should be at the forefront. **But being active doesn’t mean you need to run your own website!** It starts with you being more involved in what you see and how you interact with it. <br/> <br/>This is not only gonna bring you to interesting places, interesting people (like you!), but it&#39;s also way more satisfying! Even if from the outside view you are missing out on the daily noise. <br/> <br/>So go, explore the weirder parts of the web! Weird wiki on a specific topic, obscure game on itch.io, small musician on Soundcloud, or random people’s blog. <br/> <br/>But even better, be a part of it! <br/> <br/>Comment on someone’s post, share a montage of your favorite game screenshot, seed a torrent, make a meme!
