You have to consider that houses built for coolness are also cooler in winter. The natural systems are not isolating: in summer, you want the overheated building to cool by night. And houses often have big-ish windows which are not very efficient in any weather.

Traditional Mediterranean houses are okay under 35° C or so. You can stay about 10 degrees cooler than the outside if the building is in the shade, the streets are very narrow or filled with trees, *and* your blinds or curtains keep the light out.

Could be worse, but it's not miraculous.

The amount of curcumin of a turmeric tea can be too much for people:
with blood clotting diseases
on blood-thinning medication of ANY kind
with liver issues.

It improves/accelerates liver function and some people are sensitive to that, even if they are otherwise healthy. I can have turmeric in food because it's never that much, but I can't have a full cup of golden milk.

#VisibleMending 2025 recap: I have fixed about 25 items for a total value of 700 euros. That's an average of 28 euros.

One item broke again: the zipper in a handbag.
There was some repurposing: dishcloths out of towels.
There were four adaptations rather than mends: making a very straight shirt fit a curvy body better, undoing two turtlenecks, and folding back extra long sleeves in a decorative way.

I'm especially proud of putting patches on a trolley, my sashiko jeans and my perseverance.

The crafting community in Mastodon is an inspiration and I would like to keep sharing my mending work, no matter how simple and modest.

#visiblemending or simply adjusting. I bought online a sweater that was one size too big and didn't send it back for two reasons: sustainability and making it last longer (I will need it eventually, my child will grow into it).

I have no way to sew or properly fix the sleeves, which are really long. So I folded them back inwards, and they will stay in place thanks to the bit of ribbon. The bow is inside.

They have full approval of my hip teen niece :D

#sewing #mending #visiblemending A veces compro en Lidl España y a veces en Portugal. En Portugal la parte de bazar ha dado por concluida la vuelta al cole y han pasado a la siguiente fase, que es costura y manualidades, encajada ahí antes de meter Halloween.

Ya sé que las cajas de surtido de cualquier cosa siempre será de menos calidad que comprarlo suelto y de marca, pero qué quieres, 50 colores por 5 euros resuelven muy bien un "mecachis que no tengo justo el tono de rosa para arreglar esta prenda, tengo que acordarme de ir a la mercería"... y pasaron tres años.
