I haven&#39;t been too much in the open contribution world, but I think of an example that could be translated to there. An employer who is my friend told me that he was using the &#34;AI&#34; to check the resumes of people. My first though was that it was bad, every year their enterprise would consume so much water and energy on stolen lands in the other side of the world. But he told me they had no option, because of &#34;AI&#34; again, when they were receiving 100 resumes before and would check them one by one, now they are getting 1000. It is impossible to check them all. Also, he confessed that the people he would call on interviews would more often lie in their resume, writing stuff they didn&#39;t do and probably didn&#39;t even read. So he had to do more interviews to verify the correct person for a job even while using &#34;AI&#34;.<br/><br/>And these &#34;AI&#34; or &#34;genAI&#34; brings me to my second point. The Artificial Intelligence is a misleading marketing name: there is no reasoning, logic or rigorous thought behind the machine, it is just a probability machine very well trained. Which means these models are very good at throwing out results that are in their training data, but not results out of it, which means &#34;extrapolating&#34; the curves. In short, they are search engines, and this is not a problem itself, but the problem is the ethical point: to make them look &#34;intelligent&#34;, they have to train them with thousands and thousands of results, de facto, a lot of copyrighted stolen material and personal information like chats and emails has been used. In addition, the data centers used to train them consumes tons of water and energy, water that afterwards lacks for farmers, and energy that is paid by the local communities leaving nearby, because their energy facture increase. This of course is not a problem about the neural networks, but spevifically the massive neural networks, as well as massive cloud services and massive whatever SaaS for profit.
