After spending many hours checking flight routes, moon phases, and the movement of the cosmos throughout the night, I worked out that around 00:00 GMT would be the best time for me to try and shoot the Milky Way from a flight I'd booked.

So I ended up speaking to my doctor about my possible #ADHD traits and they gave me some forms to fill in. After I filled them in and answered all the questions, turns out my score does put me in the category of having ADHD.

Part of me is struggling to get my head around it a bit.

So as a working photographer, I decided to leave my OM-1 II in the camera bag and use the E-M10 IV with the OM 75-300 mm f/4.8-6.7 II telephoto lens. I discovered that its output is capable of being far beyond "entry-level".

Am shocked by the amount of people who are sliding down the slide with their carry on! Pretty sure you're all told to leave everything behind in an emergency evacuation.

Also more shocking are the people defending this practice, and those who say they will do so themselves.

The act of bringing your carry on with you as you evacuate can a) delay the actual evacuation and can cost lives; and b) damage the slide which, again, can cost lives.

Thanks. It feels quite nice, if a little plasticky for the price Pentax are demanding for it. But I got it with £150 off in effect as it came with £100's worth of free film, with enough loyalty points at the shop for a £50 voucher too.

But even then at £350, not sure... but it's certainly nice to have a point and shoot where I don't have to have a care in the world without all the worries of second hand / old gear if that makes sense.

One of the best "entry level" cameras I've played with now on sale for under £600 with the 14-42 mm kit lens as part of Amazon's Prime Day deals.

I love this as an EDC as it still gives me flexibility (vs my phone) to mount lenses when I don't want to lug around my main camera and bigger "pro" lenses.

If used in the right way, I actually think that the output from this camera goes beyond "entry level".

Whilst I'm not necessarily interested in getting to the point of being able to solve a #RubiksCube within mere seconds, I would like a smoother experience than the official Rubik's Cube. I find they're clunky and nowhere near anything as smooth as people online show their cubes to be on YouTube.

I shot this #SelfPortrait in a very dark corner of the ExCeL car park in 2016 during #StarWarsCelebration in London. The only light source was the LED #lightsaber which made for quite a dramatic lighting situation. I closed down the aperture to get less flaring and ghosting, as well as increase the depth of field as I was manually focussing and then running back and forth with a self-timer to take the photo.

I caught blossom season in Japan during one of my pre-pandemic visits, admiring the plum blossoms which usually come before cherry blossoms. Not quite as famous as cherry blossoms, but they look can look similar enough / the same to the uninitiated.

This is a Japanese white-eye perched in a plum blossom branch in Tokyo's Koishikawa Korakuen Garden.

I've never properly gone out of my way to try bird photography before, but can't imagine the patience you need to wait for that perfect still moment. It's not like you can tell the animals what to do. But bird shots are so pretty (as are squirrel shots lol).

I only managed to capture a shot of plum blossoms which happened to have a bird rather than specifically going out of my way to hunt for birds to shoot.

I have a question for those using #MicroFourThirds for #photography.

I currently have an OM-1 Mark II and an E-P7. But I was thinking of selling the E-P7 for a Panasonic G9 because I have read that some Pana lenses don't behave properly on OM bodies.

Wondering what you #MFT #M43 photographers might think / have a view on the Pana lenses OM body issue / non-issue.

Wondering what the #skiing community might think. I have my own pair of #ski boots because my feet are odd and don't fit into the average rental ski boots.

Having my own boots now, is it more cost effective for me to get my own skis as well as I don't have to rent both skis and boots? Or should I just continue to rent skis even though I have my own boots?

I guess if I have my own skis, I'll have to factor in transportation costs and hassle too.

Just wondering if anyone else is feeling a little burnt out from all the #SocialMedia platforms there are nowadays.

I'm just feeling tired of having to play on so many different platforms. I've recently just been concentrating on #Instagram recently, but I still feel Instagram lacks the interaction of platforms like this.

Went into my garden today with the #OM1MarkII and the #OMSystem 100-400 mm f/5-6.3 beast to see how it would do when shooting the moon using the tripod high res mode at 80 megapixels.

It gives a lot of latitude for cropping without losing too much resolution. I was able to get this framing which at a 100 per cent would be at 3000 x 3000 pixels.

I tried #Darktable on my shot of the Milky Way above Yellowknife but it didn't end very well.

BUT I did manage to find a new #photography workflow without using Adobe or Capture One that seems to be okay at denoising and getting me the right results.

A bit long winded, but I got there. Topaz Denoise first to create a denoised DNG, and then used Affinity Photo 2 to edit the DNG. Added a little bit of noise back in to hide some of the minor denoising artefacts... and voilà.

What do you think?

I was looking to enter an earlier edit of this shot into the Nat Geo travel #photography competition for the landscape category, but realised I couldn't as that photo was stacked and then had still foreground merged back into the image, which would be against the rules for comp since "only minor burning, dodging and/or colour correction is acceptable, as is cropping".

So I revisited this shot using only one single frame. I quite like this version, actually.

I was looking an earlier edit of this shot into the Nat Geo travel #photography competition for the landscape category, but I realised I couldn't as that photo was stacked and then had the still foreground edited back into the shot, which would be against the rules for Nat Geo since "only minor burning, dodging and/or colour correction is acceptable, as is cropping".

So I had to revisit this shot with only one single frame, and actually I quite like this version.

I recently picked up my first ever M43 camera in the form of the #OMSystem #OM-1MarkII with the 12-40 mm f/2.8 lens. Having shot with full frame for a long time now, it was so refreshing to have a lighter gear set.

I then decided to randomly pick up a #PenEP7 with the 25 mm f/1.8. It is so light. I actually miss having that kind of lightness in my kit.

I don't think there's any going back to the Sony A7R IV for me now lol.

LOL so having had time to actually properly interact with people over these past couple of days on #Instagram, the algorithm thinks my new spate of activities is due to the fact that I am using a "service" to gain likes and followers!

Apparently, they want you to interact with other users, but will punish you if you interact with too many lol.

I was recently just in Yellowknife, and although I did get to experience the normal -30C and below, my trip started off at -7C and the locals were all saying "this is really warm and unexpected".

After over an hour outside in temperatures of around -37°C, this is what my camera looked like after being brought back inside. The very low temperature of the camera meant that it actually hurt to touch - felt like burning - without gloves.

Although the rated temperature is only down to -10°C, mine still worked fine whilst snapping away in -37°C.

My #OMSystem #OM1MarkII survived its first mishap in the snow yesterday. I got taken out by a charging dog and fell into a snowbank where the OM-1 Mark II got entirely dunked inside.

It survived and still works lol.
