He used to be a big rodeo star until he developed cancer, and he was a huge horse lover. He took us over to meet this beautiful boy and I fell in love. He was underfed, hadn&#39;t been brushed in years and needed to be wormed and loved. It took my husband a week to comb out his mane, and after 2 weeks he cut off half his tail. It&#39;s now about down to his feet again. Moose loved that we brought him a brother home. It only took 2 days for Rio to answer to his new name that I picked for him, and he came whenever I called him. It took a little longer for him to get close to my husband. My neighbor was so happy he bragged to everyone he knew about how we made Rio into the happy healthy horse he became. I guess you could say Rio has always been my boy, he loves my husband, but I believe he is extra close to me. We made the difficult decision to have the vet come out and help us say good-bye. We scheduled it for last Saturday morning. He knew from us crying and the way we were talking, and we believe he was saying he was ready. After his ride I tried to take him for a walk and he stopped, looked up at me and I bent down.
