Global M2 Money Supply vs BTC

The largest decline in global M2 has just occured (see top-right of global M2 line) in the last 7 months.

Since we've pushed the global M2 line forward by 90 days, this means this drop in global liquidity could reflect itself in BTC around late September/October 2025-- just 2 months from today.

The big question: Will this be a Bitcoin sub-peak or will it mark the FINAL Bitcoin top?

• SUB-PEAK? •
If this is just a sub-peak, it does look like a fairly significant correction could be in store in the month of late Sept/October and possibly longer (we have to see what the M2 line does next to see how long it could last).

• FINAL TOP? •
If this is the final top, that means we just have about 2 more months left in the bull run.

Rather than jumping to conclusions with premature data, I think a continued watchful eye of the global M2 line during the next several weeks is our best course of action. Let's watch it in the coming weeks and see if it reverts or continues downward. What it does next will be a big clue.

Luckily, we have about 90-days' advance warning with the M2 offset, being a delayed reaction, as it is.

Also, I will continue monitoring other metrics (in addition to M2) in order to gauge if we do feel the final top has been reached. This is described in the video below.

Since BTC deviated back into the channel/wedge, I'm considering today a dip-buying opportunity. My guess is BTC will drop down to tag $105k (white arrow) or $106k (blue arrow) to give us a scare with holiday low liquidity, and then rebound.

As priced in USD, altseason has been ongoing for almost 2 years now. If your alt hasn’t been climbing in USD terms during this period of time, then consider you might be holding junk. Other alts have been gaining in USD terms. [chart 1]

- ALTS/BTC -
As priced in BTC, altseason hasn’t yet even begun, as bitcoin dominance continues trending higher. At some point this will change and alts will outpace BTC, but that leg of the journey hasn’t begun yet. [chart 2]

As you can see, it’s possible for ALTS to go up as priced in dollars while bleeding against BTC. This means it’s better to hold BTC until the ALTS/BTC chart finally starts heading up (when bitcoin dominance heads down). That portion of each crypto cycle is usually fairly short lived— about 1 of every 4 years.

- SUMMARY -
So, when altseason?
A long time now, as priced in USD.
Hasn't started yet, as priced in BTC.

The next time someone asks you "When Altseason?" Your correct response is to ask them: "As priced in BTC or USD?"
If they say "USD", then reply "it's been Altseason since 2023". And if their coin hasn't been going up, they are holding garbage.

🟠 BCH/BTC [chart 1] - Bottom is in. Looks like it wants to break out (the green line demarks a major resistance level that, when flipped, will likely lead to a big run up).

This means BCH will outperform BTC.

🟢 BCH/USD [chart 2] - Massive 7 year wedge (longest yellow & blue lines), with a sub-wedge (2 yellow lines converging). BCH reclaimed this sub-wedge and made the move outside of it a deviation (see the curved yellow arc). BCH/USD could be primed to rip soon along with BCH/BTC.

TL;DR:
Both BCH/BTC and BCH/USD are bullish.

It looks increasingly likely BTC will see a re-test of at least $100.8k as the first major level of support. I say this as BTC drops out of the pennant (white lines) for a second time.

The next major levels below that are $97.6k and $92.8k. If these levels are reached, I see them being quickly rebounded from.

This is all possible within the confines of the right shoulder of the larger inverse HnS (see quoted post below for reference) and can actually make the right shoulder more complete (comparable in size with the left shoulder).

For those who say "M2 is broken", zoom out and stop looking at daily candles. It's not even close to broken. ~20% deviation is expected. Look at other periods M2 has deviated on the chart, and note that it still remained a broadly accurate macro indicator.

For those who don't understand why the offset changes (it's actually a range), watch this: x.com/ColinTCrypto/s…

M2 is directionally predictive for BTC-- not 1:1 price related. I see many trying to use the BTC y-axis for the M2 line, saying that this is what price M2 predicts. BTC is on its own y-axis and M2 is on its own y-axis. M2 does not predict a specific BTC price. It predicts market direction, with about 80% accuracy.

Lastly, it's quite possible M2 *will* decouple from BTC-- perhaps near the next top. Watch the video below for how we can protect ourselves when M2 invariably does decouple in the future:

While it may feel "late" to some people to enter Bitcoin at $110k, it's still quite early in terms of total potential.

Bitcoin has proven itself globally, but it's still only a $2T market cap. For comparison, Gold is $22T.

Gold is an inferior asset to BTC and yet it's valued 10x higher. Sure, gold is a pretty shiny metal, but BTC can do things gold can only dream of.

$22T gold market cap vs $2T BTC market cap is a mispricing that will rebalance in time as BTC adoption continues.

I easily see BTC reaching $1M within 5-10 years (1 or 2 more cycles), and maybe even $10M+ per coin in some future decade.

This being said I'm not saying $110k is a good entry point right now-- that depends on your time horizon. It may be a great entrry point in 10 years. It may be a bad entry point in 1 year.

The point is: hold some BTC for the long run!

Do you hold more alts than BTC?
Do you wonder if there be further "Altseasons"?

For those wondering about their altcoin bags, rest assured there will be a massive altseason. How do I know this? Because when BTC cools off (especially after a big move up), liquidity rotates from BTC into alts (from alpha to beta). This is true of stocks and other assets as well. The phenomenon has proven to hold true in crypto.

Historically, alts move up most for a period of 2-8 weeks after BTC tops. They also climb into this BTC-topping period.

Why don't I plot Global M2 versus [your favorite alt] despite the numerous requests to do so? Because it's inaccurate. And because BTC leads alts. If BTC doesn't move up, most alts don't have a chance to in any meaningful way. Therefore, it only makes sense to follow BTC as the altcoin leading indicator. Furthermore, altcoins have lower market caps and increased volatility and thus are even less likely to be accurate when charted against M2. So, look at what BTC does first.

Here are some hard, cold facts about altcoins: Not all past altcoins will win the same. Some will see new ATHs. Poor ones won't. Not all past outperforming alts will outperform again. Only the strongest will again provide great gains as they did before. Add some luck and narrative shifts to the equation and you have your formula.

This is why it's important to pick wisely and why alts (especially mid- and low-market cap alts) are a *GAMBLE*—not an investment. Altcoins are gambling.

Altcoin buyers (notice I didn't use the word "investors") should be looking for the periods of outperformance (where alts perform better than BTC) in which to capitalize on outsized returns, but should not be planning on holding them long term. As I've said before: Almost all alts lose value when priced in BTC given a long enough time horizon.

Pop Quiz: Where is it best to hold long-term value?
Alts or BTC?

Answer: BTC.

Read this twice: Once the Bitcoin bull run is over, your alt will lose more value that BTC does on a relative basis. The lower the market cap your altcoin, the harder it will get decimated, and the more value it will lose against BTC in the years that follow. I'm not trying to depress you-- I just want to keep things realistic and offer the sobering truth.

- Global M2 shows a massive pump ahead for BTC to follow.

- The backdrop/context is that CBBI.info has not shown a super overheated score for this cycle yet. Thus, I don't think the final top is in. If CBBI was showing 90+ or 95+ I would ignore Global M2 and start taking profits, because we know that M2 can and likely will deceive us near cycle tops (M2 can run up while BTC drops after topping).

The 9 bitcoin metrics of CBBI are NOT showing an overheated status.

The way I look at it: CBBI overrides M2. But M2 can remain legitimate until CBBI shows we're overheated. Until then, the top is likely not in.

We are about 26 days in to the big M2 blast-off, with about 2 1/2 months remaining (so far).

But remember, M2 could keep heading up. This would cause the blast-off period to extend. As such, it is a potentially moving target.

Offset comparison: 80-day, 86-day, 108-day.

I put a green check mark next to the most correlated time period for each offset.

You can see the 86-day offset has the best correlation most recently. The 108-day offset has the best mid-term correlation and the 80-day offset has the best correlation for longer time periods. I am sharing this just as a note of curiosity and interest— not something to get overly caught up with.

The theoretical plus-point of being at 86-day is that we have more "blast off" in front of us, although a slight dip immediately ahead. Whether this is fully accurate is anyone's guess. The smaller the tie frame moves we try to predict, the more likely we are to be wrong. Regardless, the big picture remains the same.

For those who wonder why the M2 offset APPEARS so different for $MSTR than it is for $BTC, that's because $MSTR is traded *5* days a week and not 7 days a week like BTC.

Some people give the example of 55 days offset for MSTR. I'll translate that:

55 WEEKDAYS is equivalent to 77 CALENDAR days (including weekends). Now, you can see it's more similar to the offset with BTC (which I currently have at 80 days), since BTC is traded *7* days per week.

For those who wonder why the M2 offset is different for $MSTR than it is for $BTC, that's because $MSTR is traded *5* days a week and not 7 days a week like BTC.

Some people give the example of 55 days offset for MSTR. I'll translate that:

This is for those of you who are using my M2 Script to track shifted M2 movements against the Bitcoin price (and even for those influencers who use my script to make their own content and don't attribute it to me, such as @AltcoinDailyio today: x.com/AltcoinDailyio… )

As I said (see post below), I suspect this is a change in reporting method or maybe some kind of data error (it's almost a clean 10x which is suspicious), and not a genuine increase in India's physical world M2. Furthermore this "10x of M2" took place over one month. Is that actually real M2?

Therefore, it is deceptive when influencers make it look like BTC might reach $220k-$400k a month from now, when in reality that is very unlikely. That doesn't seem to be stopping influencers from making clickbait headlines, pretending like it could be true, even though the odds are very much against it.

That being said, if it does turn out that India's M2 surge (a masive 10x in one month) is somehow legitimate, that's fine too, and we can all re-enable India. I just think it's prescient to give it some time, to see if the spike gets removed or if any further information comes out regarding what India changed. If India truly 10x'd its M2 over a one-month period then so be it! But I'd like to see some proof of that first.

More important than anything else, we want this Global M2 chart to be practical and useful for our purposes of predicting where the BTC price might go. Not as a hype tool.

You may have noticed an enormous, retroactive spike in Global M2 chart data. (see chart 1)

TL;DR: The massive pump in Global M2 remains solid, and with BTC's climb over $95k recently, we are more on track than ever.

To figure out what was caused this Global M2 chart spike, I went one-by-one through all the countries that make up the Global M2 data and discovered this spike was caused by a change to a single country's M2 data— India, specifically. Every other country appears normal. India is the only country that has this glitch/change to its M2.

I'm not sure if it is a TradingView bug (or their data source) or a change that India made specifically to the calculation of their M2. I can't find much data on this being some kind of official change, which suggests it could be a data bug of some kind.

I was, however, able to corroborate this change of India's M2 reporting outside of TradingView (see chart 2). It is possible that site uses the same erroneous data source, so I am not jumping to a conclusion about the M2 spike's legitimacy just yet.

Upon casual observation it looks like India M2 increased by about 10x— almost a perfect 10x, kind of like the decimal place was just moved right by 1, which seems suspicious in itself.

Quick fix: I removed India from the Global M2 group, until we learn more about why India's M2 changed so drastically. (see chart 3 for the corrected M2 chart with India's M2 data removed)

The blast-off is still a GO! 🚀📈

Bitcoin is making moves. It just passed $88,000!

Global M2 keeps making new ATHs. Global M2 has run up for *over 3 months* and it continues to head up!

I'm providing charts of both the 78-day offset to 108-day offset as they provide a good balance between the two most likely outcomes.

Are we in the "micro rally" of the 108 chart or the BLAST-OFF of the 78 day chart? Remember, there will be volatility and non-correlated periods. As such, I've learned to be slow to make an assumption. Needless to say, BTC's price moves lately have been very encouraging and exciting. If we're lucky, 78 days is it and we're already off to the races!

As I've said before, I think it's best to focus on the BIG PICTURE (that collosal M2 move on the right of the chart).

Assuming this M2 correlation to BTC plays out, we'll all be very happy, regardless of a few weeks difference.

I find the Global M2 relationship to BTC extremely exciting to watch and I'll continue to cover it.

🔹 CONTINUES TO BE BULLISH. Global M2 has remained at an ATH for 3 days in a row. This is a fantastic sign for what it signals will be coming into risk assets in ~108 days. (See upper-right corner of chart)

🔹 DIP BUYING OPPORTUNITY? Global M2 (with a 108-day offset) doesn't show a blast-off for another ~2 1/2 weeks, and actually shows a slow bleed into next week until around April 16th or 17th. See pink arrow.

As such, I'm wondering if next week will provide us another dip-buying opportunity.

🔹DOUBTERS AND FLIP-FLOPPERS. I see an inclination by some to shift opinion every time there is a short time frame price movement. Global M2 is a *macro* chart. Thus, it is best to view it as such and to have patience-- not to change one's analysis with each small price movement.

This is backed by the fact that Global M2 *WILL* deviate 20% of the time, by mathematical correlation— that includes deviations both to the upside and downside. This is why you must zoom out, in order to account for that 20% non-correlated period and **not be suckered into accepting it as the average**.

Furthermore, we just proved over an extended period of time (several weeks) that the 108-day offset was accurate via the "MINI RALLY THAT FAILS". That was big. Many were calling the 108-day offset wrong before that period, too. It turns out the doubters were incorrect.

I haven't seen enough proof that the 108-day offset is wrong. It's totally fine if the offset does change, and I will shift accordingly, but I'm not being too quick to jump to that conclusion. Let's give it a week or two to play out.

In summary: I wouldn't be too quick to judge the M2 offset on each short term BTC price movement.

That is the first key level of support to hold in reversing the downtrend.

With the upcoming 2-month-long Global M2 pump that we hope to see from approximately May through June, it is entirely possible that it could be a relief rally in an otherwise larger crash, for the reasons shared in the image (Fed Funds rate timing with the stock market), as well as other metrics such as rising Unemployment Rate and the inverted yield curve.

Whether we make a higher high or a lower high in the upcoming rally, I think the next 2-month-long M2-induced rally could be the next best time to take profits.

Next is a period of sideways movement in the Global M2. Will that lead to a "SIDEWAYS/BLEEDING PERIOD" for BTC? (white box in middle of image)

There is a lot of global uncertainty right now, with Trump's tariffs and China refusing to negotiate. Yes, I believe this correlation chart holds true even through that, especially the M2 pump on the right side.

Remember:
🔹 The M2 chart has been pushed forward by 108 days. That means all of the M2 data *already happened* 108 days ago. 108 days is apparently the delayed reaction of how long it takes money to circulate through the global economy until it finds its way into risk assets.
🔹 M2 is about 80% correlated (not 100%!) with this 108-day shift. It WILL deviate 20% of the time.
🔹 The popular 70-80 day offset that many were using has proven incorrect. I've seen a number of people copying my 108 day shift, presenting it as their own work, some even going so far as to remove my watermarks.

BTC Continues to Follow Global M2 Like Glue

We're not out of the woods, but if we're lucky it will be mostly sideways from here until May. There could still be some bleeding during this time.

Second chart is the exact same chart, except BTC is displayed with bars and wicks, so you can see how low it dropped today.

I'm still a believer that the May "blast-off" will play off as expected. If this recent "mini rally that fails" is any proof of continued correlation, then we are looking good. Yes, even amidst Trump tariffs.
