doing a bit of gardening today, with the help of my mom who has lots of experience with it :blobfoxuwu: :wvrnTilt:

mowed and turned over some parts of the grass and put in some bigger plants and flower seed, the perennial plants and trees are full of flower buds and fresh growth already, it's a good moment to prepare your garden for the summer if you have one!

instead of one of those battery trimmers I got my old one hooked up to a portable battery, much more powerful

I still can't even that my now nearly 80 year old mom has been on Fedora on a thinkpad e520 (2011) for a decade and it all just works.

I checked her laptop just now and it's fully up to date on fedora 43, so she's done like 20 version upgrades autonomously too. The battery has degraded a little but the whole thing still works fine and she's very happy with it.

This is how things should be, this is peak computing tbh.

Watt-hours is just practical when you want to visualize how long an electrical device would run on a certain amount of energy, even if that of course is very different energy than burning fuel/food. The fact it's almost the same as calories makes it easy to draw analogies✨

well, respectfully, as far as I can tell, anyone can file a VAERS, they're not verified, and with the amount of conspiracies it's not strange such a thing would happen. And referring back to it as reason to distrust all vaccines is kind of like saying "people complain about it because people complain about it" ^^;

Not to mention vaccines like against measles and alike have already proven saved millions of lives decades before COVID was ever in the picture. I'd be careful there

I propose replacing calories with watt-hours.

- Almost same value (1 kilocalorie / Calorie is ~1.1 watt-hours)
- more intuitive for people who use electricity
- never the confusion between calories (science), Calories (food, which is technically kilocalories), kilocalories, and 'kilo Calories' (which is technically megacalories)
- you get to feel more like a robot with your 2.5kwh power consumption a day which may feel like validation to some creatures on this fediverse
- become powered by cake

I don't nearly do it as much as I should! especially right now it's very nice, but it's the north sea coast so it can also be very cold other times of the year haha

the tide difference here usually is about 2-3 meters, the Waddensea is a known area where the seafloor all the way up to the islands dries up with low tide, so you can technically walk to the islands if you're quick (but don't do that without a guide)

You don't have to let everyone into every aspect of your personal life, that's not the same as tolerance, which is simply respecting each other and their own existence
If anything, I'd say tolerance allows for having your own spaces too, whether they're minority or otherwise; people should tolerate this without demanding everything to be broken down.

and if someone isn't tolerant, they are breaching this contract.

therefore, it's completely fair to be intolerant to the intolerant; they're the ones who broke the contract.

Practical example:
"respect my ideas, and my ideas include not tolerating diversity" -> breach of tolerance contract, does not deserve to be tolerated.

IMHO it's completely fair to demand from people who are demanding tolerance that they're tolerant, because they're doing the exact same 🤷
