The Nintendo Direct today gave us much more information about the upcoming Switch 2. Apart from the tech specs, we got a peek at the "directly attached" (glued?) HD rumble pack inside the new Joy-Con 2. They also increased the size of the joysticks, but didn't mention switching to drift-proof Hall effect sensors.
For 50% more money than the Switch 1, we hope it's at least 50% easier to repair! We look forward to testing this when the Switch 2 launches in June.

What we end up with is essentially a new device category: a powerful PC with emerging technologies that'll hopefully mature to a point where upgradeability can be achieved. But Framework decided to package it as a mini desktop w/standard form factors, sticking to its ethos.

HP printers give fake error messages for non-HP ink. Some Keurigs only accept “approved” coffee pods. GE refrigerators show error codes for off-brand filters.

If you own something, you should be able to keep it running or repair it however you choose.

The maker shouldn't have a say in what brand of battery or filter you use any more than your car maker decides what brand of oil you use.

It’s a widespread issue across manufacturers, and something we’re fighting to fix.
