Speakers and microphones are somewhat electronically the same so you might be able to extract crappy audio that way. You can extract audio from vibrations seen by a camera. The pinephone's camera is so bad tho that this doesn't mater much. You could probably extract audio from the acceleration detection but I never tried this one. It's a maybe. But there is often a way basically.

XD. I like the idea to use an other kernel tho. I didn't get deep into it but there is a fair amount of more modern Unix like kernel. I heated that BSD or free BSD is more secure too in general but I don't know how much. There is a some existing alternatives to explore like redox or Hurd.

I think the first step of Linux phone was to make it work at all. Correct me if I'm wrong but how Android achieve that level of security is that every app runs on some sort of a virtual environment and it's that environment that receive permissions. While lphones today run apps as normal program, it's not like we don't have the tech to do something similar. It misses the standardization of a solution, and an interface to make it seamless. It's a lot of job but not impossible. For getting app support, that's more of a business problem and I'm not great at that yet. It's the chicken and egg problem that every platform suffer at the beginning.

The thing is, we can have many interpreted languages but we'll always need at least one actively used compiled one. So rust, for me is there to replace #c and c++ over time. The need for replacement starts to increase not just because they don't feel too modern anymore and lack a lot of features but most importantly because of the memory safety situation. When you see it like that, rust is more comparable and in competition with #golang, #zig and #nim. I'm surprised that they say rust is on demand. Maybe it's a regional thing? I live in Canada.

How much time does it take for a new language to become standard in the corporate universe? I mean, I've been looking for a job for 4 months and I saw maybe one or two position involving #golang and I think I saw zero for #rust . In fact I I would say 95% is #python #c #c++ #csharp #java #javascript . There is a bit of #teraform and way too much #php in my tast. There is a bit of #ruby too. Ruby is ugly looking. Sorry. XD No #lua at all. I was surprised. Anyway. I just feel that the open source world is using way more interesting languages that the corporate world.

I download the last version of manjaro mobile with plasma on my original pinephone and it's crazy how things are snappy since the last time I tried it. The UI is really usable even with that cheap hardware. I didn't have any deal breaker bugs so far anymore. Of course, it can't be my main phone cause I need calls to get in all the time and there is not all the apps I need but it's slowly getting there.
