Day 802 , Wednesday 07/01/2026<br/><br/>Wednesday started early, around 7am.<br/><br/>After breakfast I put on my suit, something I haven&#39;t done since 2019 &amp; it showed in the fact that it took several attempts to get my tie to the right length.<br/><br/>We got to my MiL&#39;s house in good time &amp; the Weather Witches smiled on us giving us a day that was very cold but very sunny with blue skies.<br/><br/>The funeral service was beautiful, Kevin, the vicar, gave a perfect eulogy for Gloria and everything went to plan.<br/><br/>He read out my poem ‘Guardians’ &amp; did it proud, he was right it suited the occasion well.<br/><br/>We went out for lunch afterwards, stopping at a pub I&#39;ve not been to for many years where we enjoyed a delicious meal.<br/><br/>We hid away from the world this afternoon, just taking comfort in each other’s company.<br/><br/>Final Thoughts.<br/><br/>As Kevin said, the jigsaw puzzle of my late Mother in Law, Gloria, is now complete &amp; we will remember her forever.<br/><br/>Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. Day 767 , Wednesday 03/12/2025<br/><br/>Wednesday started early at just before 7am.<br/>The oil radiator that I left on overnight to warm the upper floor had done sterling work - possibly working a bit too well, so I’ll turn it to a lower setting tonight &amp; see how that feels in the morning.<br/><br/>The towel I put it the bottom of the cupboard housing the boiler was soaked thru this morning - I should have put a bowel down, but when I left it last night it was hard to tell exactly where the water was breaking out of the cabinet. This has been resolved now. <br/><br/>Mrs S, not wanting to be in our icebox of a house buggered off early to the office &amp; was gone by the time I got downstairs about 15 minutes later. <br/><br/>22:30 I’m too tired &amp; mentally exhausted to add much more to today’s entry - I’m glad I wrote up this morning this morning if that makes any sense.<br/><br/>So 2 things before I go to bed.<br/><br/>1. I have not heard from Simon the plumber all day, he is in extreme danger of loosing a long time customer especially after what is detailed in what follows:<br/>2. My MiL passed this evening, sometime in between us getting a call from the hospital at around 18:30 &amp; us arriving at the hospital - which is an hour away.<br/>She passed peacefully in her sleep &amp; I guess no one can ask for more than that.<br/> <br/>Final Thoughts.<br/><br/>My MiL &amp; I had a very stormy relationship, especially in recent years. Day 742 , Saturday 08/11/2025<br/><br/>So after a rough night I was up a crack of sparrows fart - 06:33!<br/>This was because Mrs S had got up &amp; was romping around. Normally I would simply roll over &amp; get another hour because she would be going out shopping but not today. <br/>Today we are venturing across the hills to attend a family meal as it&#39;s my birthday next week. <br/>So I had to get up because she had not put the time of the meal in our online calendar.<br/>I got down to find that it&#39;s not until 13:30 - I could have stayed in bed! <br/><br/>Made breakfast for the two of us, Mrs S fussing with the cats, who get far more attention, except when it comes to dealing with the litter tray, that is definitely a house elf problem. <br/><br/>We left around 11am - which gave us 2½ hours to get to the restaurant, which should have been ample time, sadly due to endless roadworks &amp; traffic jams it took us 3 hours! <br/><br/>The meal went well though &amp; we all piled back to my sisters for a brew &amp; a biscuit &amp; a chat afterwards.<br/><br/>I&#39;d like to say the journey back was easier, but it wasn&#39;t - I tried to take an old shortcut I very vaguely remembered to avoid the roadworks &amp; it eventually took us 2½ hours to get back.<br/>We did stop off briefly to get some custard. <br/><br/>When we got in - at knocking on 8pm - we had a naughty supper of Bakewell tart &amp; custard which was washed down with a couple of glasses of cider! We watched an episode of the original &#39;All Creatures Great and Small&#39; as we ate &amp; thusly managed to have a relaxing end to the day! <br/><br/>Final Thoughts.<br/><br/>Annoying as getting up at stupid o&#39;clock was &amp; as frustrating as getting caught in seemingly interminable traffic jams proved to be, it was in fact a decent day. <br/>Had a good time with my family &amp; it all worked out ok in the end! <br/><br/>Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. Day 712 , Thursday 09/10/2025<br/><br/>Thursday started around 7am - well just past as I snuck in an extra 5 minutes duvet hugging time! <br/><br/>Today was a lot quieter than yesterday - the door demons are back &amp; getting outside is proving problematical - I&#39;ll be forced out tomorrow as I have to give Mrs S a lift to work so that I have the car for my Covid/flu jabs in the afternoon.<br/><br/>I have rather found myself wandering what the point is &amp; 42 is a bit of an open answer when you look at it in the cold hard light of day! <br/><br/>Spent a decent chunk of the day either doing chores or roaming post apocalyptic Boston &amp; trying to avoid the news. <br/>Failed miserably &amp; had a good 5 minute rant at RFK Jr&#39;s attempt to pin autism on circumcision (via paracetamol obviously). <br/>What nonsense these people do talk! <br/><br/>BTW 100% of all diseases are caused by breathing, also water is made up of oxygen which is flammable &amp; hydrogen which is very flammable so don&#39;t drink that chilled glass of corporation pop (as my grandad used to call it) anywhere near a naked flame - pass it on!
