I still think that it is abysmal that one for-profit company can decide whether or not I am allowed to access an unthinkable portion of the internet is just wrong. Especially when there's no transparency - all I get is the turnstile page, a captcha that spins on loading for 30 seconds, some red text saying "Sorry, verification is taking longer than expected right now", and then a refresh, back to square one.
What's even more ironic is I can't even access any of cloudflare's sites to do any sort of troubleshooting - because they use #cloudflare.

I can only access [*.]transgender.ing because I have local DNS records that point my devices directly to the server IP that is hosting the relevant services. If I go via WAN, I get cloudflare'd. ON MY OWN SITE. WITH PROTECTION *DISABLED*. I have to use a VPN to run my remote traffic back home just to access this website when I'm out and about.

And to be totally clear, I am not using cloudflare for DDOS ...

And to be totally clear, I am not using cloudflare for DDOS protection. I don't care. I have been hit with DDOS attacks before, and mitigated them myself. I am more than competent at networking and systems administration, and was not far off getting a distinction in that field.
I am only using cloudflare for the CDN. I need a CDN. They're the only free one, as far as I'm aware.

If anyone has any alternatives, PLEASE share them with me. I can budget an extra maybe £3 per month at most, so the cheaper the better (but not too cheap, I do need them to be around a while, not a pop-up service)

For a reference to what I'm dealing with, this is my #cloudflare analytics, and my broadband speed. My VPS only has an allocation of 1TB of bandwidth per month, and that already sets me back £5/mo. I do not have a job yet, as every application I've put in at places since the start of June have either been denied or outright ghosted, as such I don't have a stable income and pay for everything entirely out of pocket.
Believe me, I wouldn't be using the demon commonly crowned a necessity, however in this case it really is a necessity.

Also, this is just for *my* instance - there are only five accounts on here, one friend, two headmates, myself, and a bot.
Imagine how much worse it'd get if people actually signed up for accounts on my instance?

And for anyone looking at this and going "you must just have a bad IP reputation", __I do not know why, and that is the problem__. I live at home with my family, so our broadband is used by four people. I am the only tech savvy person in this household. My brother just watches youtube and plays roblox, and my parents browse forums and facebook and whatnot. So the other three people on my broadband won't be giving us negative IP rep, and I end up tunnelling most of my data over a VPN anyway, unless it is something latency sensitive. Almost all of my outgoing communications run over a VPN on my servers too. I cannot think of anything I could've done to accumulate a "negative IP reputation", nor do I know how to fix it.
I do not have a static IP, however my ISP allocates IPs for a long time (from at least a few weeks, to sometimes over a year). I cannot call up and get a new one, they simply tell me that it will rotate *eventually*.

Until my IP changes, or until #cloudflare gets their shit together and tells me *why* I'm ineligible to access the internet, and why they're for some reason allowed to be the one that decides that, I am completely fucked.

I really fucking hate this stupid fucking service, but I am forced to use it because I literally cannot afford a CDN and fedi.transgender.ing transfers more bandwidth monthly than my VPS can afford, and that's ignoring the fact it doesn't have the resources to act as an efficient cache. My origin only has a 40 megabit upload speed which I share with all of my other services. So I am effectively forced to use this stupid shitty fucking service that has randomly decided I am not allowed to use the majority of the internet without using a VPN, and doesn't even give me a chance to find out why or give me a way to fucking fix it. Fuck #cloudflare, seriously. Bastards. Hate them with every ounce of my soul.
