My mother was a dismal cook, growing up in a home where there was always a cook. My dad used to say that he had to teach her how to boil water. (But he never did cook for us himself). I started cooking for the family at 8 as well! Aside from a couple of mishaps, I was soon the one who did all the dinners, until my other sisters learned how to cook, sort of.
