Could be a race or a problem in where log files are created. I couldn't reproduce your issue yet.

wouldn't that then mean that the history server side would be not completely secure so that you can perform a "password reset" / "restore account" service?

Or is the problem regular backups and it would be less of a problem on a server that keeps the messages so importing an old backup would redownload all messages.

Could you try to download and run https://github.com/chatmail/core/releases/download/v1.156.2/deltachat-rpc-server-x86_64-linux ? that't the dc core binary that desktop failed to load/find in your screenshot.

I personally think chatmail shouldn't offer free file hosting. Storing large files is expensive and anonymous large file uploads could be attractive for criminals.

What could be nice would be some interface where you can select some limited entities/lamps/devices to be controlled by a bot+webxdc and then it creates a group where you can add friends that stay over so while they are in the group they can just control the light and stuff in the guest room and they don't need to download extra apps?

I made the #deltachat_web version run as add-on on #HomeAssistant. It was easy, just took me around 2 days.
So this is one way to host the browser edition in your local network. :homeassistant:

Though I must tell you that I don't plan to maintain this, I just made it because it looked like a fun side quest to #deltatauri. That being said it is totally usable.

That is the restriction/feature of the #chatmail accounts, you can only sent encrypted messages. If you want to also send opportunistically[^1] encrypted emails to normal email accounts, then you need to use DC as email client for a normal email account.

I don't know about how we would show a dialog "do you want to remove user data too?" on linux like uninstallers do on windows - AFAIK that's not common on linux. on linux there are package managers, on windows each program ships their own uninstall.exe program

If you want easy way to remove apps including user data on linux, then use flatpak:

So far it only takes 38 mb 📦 (78mb installed) in package size instead of the 150mb 📦(323mb installed) of the Delta Chat Desktop #electron version.
