I am glad I did.<br/><br/><br/><br/>For those who don&#39;t know Frieren is an elf who helped save the world with the great hero Himmel after a 10 year quest. The group goes their separate ways, but while the other members of the group age as humans do, Frieren is an elf who appears to be eternally young and ageless. Decades pass and feel like a couple years when she returns and sees her friends are aged.<br/><br/><br/><br/>When playing fantasy games or reading fantasy stories, everyone is aging together. The idea of an eternal elf walking off and coming back like no time has passed for them, but 50 years passed for her former companions is so unique to me.<br/><br/><br/><br/>This is the basic setup of the story. It then follows as she&#39;s trying to understand her former compatriots better with their short, fleeting lives as well as training up her new apprentice, Fern. <br/><br/><br/><br/>It&#39;s very well done, at least what I&#39;ve read. It is a wild ride into a dark future for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles where the grandson of Shredder (Oroku Hiroto) rules New York and only one turtle is still alive. Which turtle is left a mystery at the beginning of the story and when you first get the reveal, it hits you like a ton of bricks.<br/><br/><br/><br/>The story is well paced, overall, and gets into the how, the why, and what was happening with the turtles, Splinter, Oroku Hiroto, Baxter Stockman, April O&#39;Neil, and others. Each reveal more interesting than the next.<br/><br/><br/><br/>A lot of this goes back to a longstanding feud between the Foot Clan and the Hamato family. The Foot Clan calls for a truce, which was a ruse - leading to the events and world of the series. <br/><br/><br/><br/>The use of a few different art styles in the series really works well. Flashbacks are done in the classic style of Eastman and Laird&#39;s original TMNT comics, which are just so well done.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Overall, I enjoyed this darker series and am enjoying my reread of it. I did not even find these at Hersheypark when we visited this week.<br/><br/><br/><br/>How is it? Well, it&#39;s a thicker Reese&#39;s cup with a thicker outer shell and a lot of peanut butter. The ratio of chocolate to peanut butter is closer to that of a Reese&#39;s egg than a traditional peanut butter cup.<br/><br/><br/><br/>So yea, I like it. The flavor starts by hitting you with subtle pineapple followed by a berry / regular Mountain Dew aftertaste. However, for me, overall the flavor was kind of subdued. <br/><br/><br/><br/>I didn&#39;t mind it, but my kids - well, they really liked it. While I had a few sips, they guzzled down the rest of the bottle.<br/><br/><br/><br/>I guess you could say it was a hit at home, even if I only thought it was okay.
