At this point, you&#39;re just blocking every service that you can block, however small the risk reduction is.<br/><br/>There&#39;s really nothing particular about Telegram; it&#39;s not especially vulnerable or anything, so blocking only it is arbitrary. One can implement remote control with Google Sheets or GitHub, for what it&#39;s worth.<br/><br/>I&#39;m not disputing that&#39;s right in _some_ circumstances, but... Generally, people on the network need messengers, if there are people in the first place.<br/><br/>Well, and communication... Yeah, having it is better than not having it. So:<br/>- either the government quietly forgets this decision,<br/>- or they institute a full-blown internet censorship with Deep Packet Inspection and stuff.<br/>The former is more likely because Mastodon isn&#39;t that important, but I wish it were the dilemma any such lawmakers faced.<br/><br/>And, anyway, Mastodon doesn&#39;t have many of the issues that made that bill even conceivable. #Bluesky will be more interesting to watch, because it&#39;s much more like the old #Twitter.
