The Talmud is a massive work that purports to explain not only the written Torah but also nearly every aspect of life for the Jewish people. It serves as an extensive collection of commentaries, interpretations, and explanations, often challenging key aspects of the Old Testament to align with the rabbis’ authoritative interpretations. Though the Torah was written centuries before the Talmud, for Rabbinic Judaism—which, as we shall see, fundamentally defines Jewish life—the Torah cannot exist without the Talmud, as it is through the Talmud that Rabbinic Judaism inverts, subverts, or perverts the Torah.

This point is often overlooked by those who claim to cover these topics. More importantly, one does not need to be a Christian to examine this crucial issue in its historical context. However, if writers like Laurent Guyenot wish to understand this topic and avoid misrepresenting the context in which it emerged, they must be careful in their assertions and rely on serious sources that present the issue accurately. Here, I am attempting to appeal to both Laurent Guyenot and my esteemed colleague Kevin Barrett.
