Is there a name for the communication style where people forget to ask explicit questions or make requests?

Sometimes I get messages or emails composed a series of statements. The writer is giving context (which is good) but they never explicitly ask for anything. They seem to be expecting me to infer from the story what I'm supposed to do with it.

I find this irritating. Less irritating than questions without context but still irritating.

It's a beautiful fall afternoon and I escaped to the woodshop to finish the handle I started yesterday. Admiring my work, savoring a cup of tea, and the cool breeze. Just about a perfect afternoon until, alas, the kids need something.

Spent two nights in the Mt Margaret wilderness, just north of Loowit (Mt St Helens) and Spirit lake. Sunday was wet and cold. We stayed dry, but were not prepared for how cold it was. And I'll tell you something, I would rather be huddled cold in my sleeping bag, watching the stars wheel over the mountain and waiting for sunrise than comfortable in this so-called civilization. I know which one makes me feel alive.

Had a couple glorious days in the mountains first half of the week but then coming back to work this morning feels somebody dropped a cement truck on my head. If things improve I'll post pictures later. If not, I went back to the mountains permanently. 😝
